Recommended from the age of 12 Utopia, which heralded the future and the trinity of ideas: economical, elegant and modern. 50 years after it was brought to life, the director meets the creators - architect and researcher Jean Anglebert, steel visionary Paul Petty, pioneers of participatory architecture Lisiens and Simon Krolls. They created experimental, modern housing communities in Brussels, Liège and Charleroi, shaking up conservative architectural circles. Architects are political optimists whose creations challenge: how will we live tomorrow? Brussels-based architect, photographer and director Degavre uses the technique "to know the future, you have to go back to the past". True, the setting of the film is timeless: how do we get around the cost of living, and what kind of life will we leave to our descendants? The director looks back at a lesser-known chapter of the history of Belgian architecture, for those brave in the ideas of postmodernism, and immerses herself in personal memories - these are connected in a mosaic manner with archive materials and interviews with colorful Belgian architects, becoming a timeless tribute to an experimental thought that is bigger than ours today.
