Recommended from the age of 12 “I usually submit only my films. This time I have decided in favor of an exception," says Švankmajer. He holds up a black and white photo of himself with his wife Eva. This is the only evidence of their youth - everything that follows is the backstage of his "laboratory" or cinema studio "Atanors". When scrupulously reviewing not only his creative biography and history, the main messengers are the objects located in his home - each of them brings back some event, memory or reflection. The language of objects is the favorite of the Czech classicist. Breaking the alphabet of portrait films, the Czech directing tandem Olha and Dunhel have created a work that fits into the Švankmajer universe. Visupirms Švankmajer is a collector, and stories through the small, funny and thoughtful are the golden section of his personality. Rejecting classical message forms, the film conjures up the scope of a full-fledged Švankmajer retrospection - from the grotesque and farcical to the past and the loneliness that Švankmajer feels after the passing of the painter and associate Eva. The documentary simultaneously meditates on Czech surrealism and humor as political resistance - if the deadly serious is smirkingly unserious, then one can remain human.
