Recommended for ages 16 and up The story of a master and his apprentice in the New York real estate jungle . In the early 1970s, Donald Trump is a novice - a complex case manager who is in the care of Uncle Trump Senior. When he meets lawyer Roy Cohn, his life changes. Stealing ideas from others, catchphrases (also from Reagan) and adopting Cohn's tactics, Trump becomes his “best version”. The AIDS epidemic, the heyday of show business and the modern palaces of Italian marble. The city that never sleeps is Trump's playground - the truth is that it is becoming too narrow for him. How to make a biographical portrait film in the post-truth era? Especially when this “alternative truth” is claimed by the movie character himself? Iranian-Danish provocateur Abbasi, who created the critically acclaimed The Border (2018) and The Holy Spider (2022), knows the answer. He is not populistly proclaiming "let's make biographies great again" - in the film shown at Cannes, Abbasi uses the same techniques of bravado and "alternative facts" as the ideologue of the Republican Party. The film, vehemently denied by Trump himself and his supporters, embraces 90s video aesthetics, wry irony, the height of capitalism and a stellar cast that includes Sebastian Stan as Trump, Jeremy Strong (The Succession) and even Borat's daughter, "Oscar ” nominated actress Marija Bakalova.
