Recommended from the age of 12 The longest days of our lives - those, in which our loved ones pass away. On a warm summer day in Reykjavík, a tragedy occurs that not only shakes Una's life, but also illuminates the hidden. An art student and musician has an affair with a member of a rock group, Didi, and the secret of this relationship from the whole world, including his girlfriend Klara, gradually comes to light. Anger, denial, flashes of memories, acceptance and goodbye - both Una and Klara go through this cycle of mourning. The unbearable awareness that the life of Didi, who was loved by everyone, ended before it began, is comforted by the strong, unbreakable shoulder of the group. Maybe it's all destined to come to light over a clear horizon?
Originally made as a short film, Rūnarsson's emotionally wrenching, incredibly powerful coming-of-age drama about the internal aggregate states of a person in the face of loss has opened the Cannes "Special Look" competition (this screening included also Ginta Zilbaloža's Stream (2024)). In its center, the new generation of Icelanders lives with a heart that is cut out, who love, create, make music with the energy of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", enjoy and don't think so much about tomorrow. However, how to translate the languages of loss - the Icelandic director approached this task, based on his personal experience of losing loved ones, and grounding them to piercing similarities with almost or every viewer. Without trivializing the mourning of two women and the image of the "other woman", the film is made from Una's point of view - the acting of Icelander Elina Hala is the "musical box" of the film, which, as Jouhan Jouhansson's beats sound, carries the promise of the strength of the heart.
