In Downshifting, a self-fulfilling lifestyle, a family of six in the Norwegian countryside squeeze juice, tend a vegetable garden, take care of livestock, spend hours in homeschooling, and have achieved their liberation. However, the happy togetherness, which parents sometimes judge as wrong for children, is torn apart - sadness fills the family and accompanies them on the way back to the city... A muted, brilliant documentary cinema sensation for the tired of our time. The portrayed characters, former city dwellers, together with the director Evensmoo Jákobsen, open up a wide space for conversation - fascination with the eternal idea of ​​dialogue with nature, family ties, Instagram's facade against real life and parents' responsibility for decisions, choosing instead of their child. The winning film of the Sundance documentary competition, in an almost recognizably glamorous tone, astutely presents the truths and paradoxes of modern lifestyles and environmental change, just like the Cash family in the award-winning drama "Captain Fantastic" (2016). Evensmoo Jákobsen streams documentary, intimate films with Marija Vatne's own photographs, which the director initially noticed on the web.
