USSR, 1937. The new prosecutor Alexander Kornev, just appointed in a high position, is unexpectedly receiving a strange letter - a blood -denoted cardboard.
Its author is a veteran of the party, a former revolutionary with the last name Stepnak, who accuses the NKVD institution's systematic destruction of the old Bolshevik Guard and replacing them with reliable but harmless performers.
Kornev is an honest person, an ideological communist who truly believes in justice. He starts his own investigation - and soon convinces: Stepnak's arrest is not a mistake, but part of a frightening system.
Shaken and outraged, he reaches a personal meeting with the Attorney General to warn of a horrendous mistake.
However, the deeper he looks at what is happening, the clearer it becomes: the truth he is looking for is not at all in this system.
"Two prosecutors" is the drama of the idealist who loses faith in the system, justice, his own inviolability ...
This is the story of a man who dares to question the unquestionability of power. It is the tragedy of conscience. Leading film critics highly appreciated the artistic power of the film, calling it a timely and significant work.
A gloomy history warning and the voice from the past, which today sounds alarmingly topical.
It is undeniable that the message of the film will be particularly sharp for those living in countries that once positioned themselves as the opposite of authoritarian Russia, but today turns into societies that are increasingly resembling what is shown in the film - only in more grotesque form and with cynical performers. A special festival event is the only exclusive screening of the movie.
