European premiere. Toto Coutinho show in Riga and Daugavpils
For the first time in Riga and Daugavpils, a new musical show from Italy will experience its European premiere - the official Toto Coutinho tribute show accompanied by the Italian musical group "L'italiano". The Maestro's favorite and most famous songs will be played, and the stars from Italy will provide a real musical feast, which will immerse the audience in the atmosphere of the "golden period" of the Italian pop scene. In Italy, but throughout Europe. His songs were performed by Joe Dassin, Dalida, "Ricchi e Poveri", Adriano Celentano, Mireille Mathieu and other world pop stars. But it all started on July 7, 1943 in Tuscany, Italy, where Salvatore (Toto) Cutuno was born. He was introduced to music by his father, a non-commissioned officer in the Marine Corps who loved playing the trumpet. When the future singer was still a child, together with his father, they took part in concerts of the city orchestra of Spezia.
At the age of 14, Coutinho wrote his first song, and as he got older, he made music the main means of earning money type. He created his first group "Toto e i Tati" in 1965 and started touring with it throughout Italy. The musicians achieved such success that they managed to sign a contract with a large Italian record company «Carosello Records». Toto Coutinho became known as a soloist later, participating with another group "Albatros" in Italy's main national music competition at the Sanremo Festival, where their song took third place. The singer's name is inextricably linked with the Sanremo festival. In 1980, the singer won the Sanremo competition with the song "Solo noi". In 1983, Toto Coutinho participated in the Sanremo festival with the song "L'italiano", which is still the artist's "calling card" to this day. Officially, the song took the 5th place, but according to the results of the popular vote, which took place immediately after the festival, "L'italiano" took the 1st place. After that, Coutinho made another 15 appearances at Sanremo. In 1990, he won another festival - Eurovision in Zagreb.
Cutunjo's creative baggage was so rich that he shared his works without greed with the leading singers of Italy and Europe. At the beginning of 1975, he began to collaborate with Joe Dasen. Dasein's regular lyricists Claude Lemel and Pierre Delanois wrote the legendary "Et si tu n'existais pas", "Salut" and "L'Été indien" to the tune of Toto Coutinho. Over the next three years, Coutinho wrote 6 more songs for Joe Dassin, including the record-breaking 12-minute composition "Le Jardin du Luxembourg". In 1976, in collaboration with Palavicini and Delanoit Coutinho wrote the song "Ciao bambino, sorry" for the singer Mireille Mathieu.
A separate line in the fate of Toto Coutinho was his strong friendship and creative union with Adriano Celentano . The disc "Soli" was their first joint work. The album is still very famous and loved both in Italy and in many other countries. The album stayed at the top of the Italian charts for a record 58 weeks. The compositions "Soli", "Amore no" and "Pay, pay, pay" are among the most popular songs of the artist.
Toto called Adriano his best friend and wrote music for both the film «The Taming of the Shrew», in which Celentano played the main role, and two dozen other films.
2016. In 2008, after a 36-year break, Toto Coutinho renewed his collaboration with Adriano Celentano, collaborating with Fabrizio Berlingioni to record the song "Ti lascio amore" for the album "Le migliori", recorded together with the famous Italian singer Mina.
Toto Coutinho hosted many popular programs on Italian television. In 2002, the artist released the album "Il treno va", which was very popular in France. The maestro toured various countries with constant success, where he was welcomed by thousands of enthusiastic fans. But a serious illness interrupted his earthly journey a year ago.
As a sign of respect for the Maestro's work, the Italian musical group "L'italiano", inspired by his life story and the peaks of his creative career, created the only official tribute show based on were Coutinho's most famous songs, which he performed himself or wrote for world stars. At the same time, the Maestro's original arrangements, his intonations and creative ideas are preserved, and the voice that is so familiar to all lovers of Italian pop comes from the stage. Over the course of an hour and a half, the soloists and musicians of the "L'italiano" project will not only perform live songs sung by the whole world, but will also bring you into the unique atmosphere of the "golden period" of the Italian stage, when the Maestro and his melodies ruled the stage.
