"Latvijas slägerkanāls" invites you to a concert of a selection of golden songs
In many places in Latvia, the ambitious concert "Why should I sing a foreign song" has already been performed with stormy ovations. The great response of the listeners has inspired the organizers and musicians to continue this tradition.
The next concerts will take place on the 4th. in May at the Latgale Embassy "Gors" in Rēzekne and on May 9 in the Ogre Culture Center.
The concert will feature the most popular Latvian pop artists, who will perform songs from the "Latvijas šlägerkanālas" gold fund.
On stage Viktors Lapchenoks, Liene Šomase, Ugis Roze, Lorija Vuda, Guntis Veits, Jenny May, Ainars Bumbieris, Ieva Sutugova and children's pop group "Karameles". Raivo Stašans (saxophone), Anatolijs Livča (piano), Pēteris Liepiņš (bass), Uģis Krūskops (percussion instruments), Artūrs Kutepovs (guitar) will also be seen on stage. The event will be hosted by "Latvijas Radio" personality Elvis Jansons.
Igors Linga, creator and manager of "Latvijas shlägerkanālas", director and producer at the same time, says about the concert: "Each decade has its own popular songs that help wake up, improve mood, make you cry or, on the contrary, make you smile. We have collected songs that were important to the Latvian people in the 60s-80s of the last century, as well as those that were already loved during the independent Latvia. Because the old songs don't disappear anywhere, and we have a duty to carry them on. What a difference that performs the song "About the last page"! It has always been the pearl of all Latvian pop music! We Latvians always praise our poets and writers, especially literary classics. But we have so many fantastic songs to be proud of! They have to sound again and again, even after ten, twenty and fifty years!"
Ainars Bumbieris adds: "I know how important sweet melodies in the native language are to the Latvian people. And I, as a Latvian pop music performer, have the honor of singing songs with which we will be able to agree with all concertgoers in one voice!"
Jenny May adds to the above: "Now many new songs become popular for a short time and then disappear . But the compositions, which are our core values, do not lose their quality: they are heard both on Christmas Eve and are played on the radio year after year. People feel the history, strength and soul of their people through these songs. That's why I feel very honored to be a part of this concert.
