Fans of pop music of the last century can get excited again, because the world famous Danish electronic music duo "Laid Back" will perform a special concert in Riga. At the concert, you will be able to hear the most famous compositions of duo musicians Tim Stahl (vocals, keyboards, bass, drums) and John Guldberg (vocals, guitar, bass), which became hits in countless countries around the world. "Maybe I'm Crazy", "White Horse", "Bakerman" and, of course, the well-known song "Sunshine Reggae" will be played at the concert. It was this hit that became the duo's best-selling record of all time, reaching number one in 22 countries around the world. To date, more than 20 million units have been sold. In the mid-1970s, revolutionary new technologies entered the world of music: multi-track tape recorders, rhythm machines and synthesizers. In a backyard in central Copenhagen, John had set up a small studio where he and Tim began to experiment and make demo recordings. They soon realized that they had created a new sound, a way of making music, and at the same time their own style. The electronic music duo "Laid Back" was formed in 1979 in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Initially, their association was called "The Starbox Band", but after the unsuccessful performance at the concert of the legendary "The Kinks" group in Copenhagen, where the audience received them not very responsively, the two parted ways. "Laid Back" debut album with the same name as the song "Maybe I'm Crazy" was released in 1981. It became an instant No. 1 hit in Denmark. 1, while also gaining widespread popularity outside the band's home country. To date, Sunshine Reggae has sold more than 20 million copies, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time in world music history. This hit was later included in the band's second studio album, Keep Smiling, which was released a year later. Another very well-known hit in Latvia "High Society Girl" comes from it. On the other hand, across the ocean in the USA, the B-side composition of the single "White Horse" gained the greatest popularity, which also later became one of the most iconic hits of the group in other parts of the world. The electronic music track, which is kept in the funk genre and rich in expressive bass beats, became especially popular in American dance halls and on the charts. After relatively more modest success with the albums "Play It Straight" (1985) and "See You in the Lobby" (1987), "Laid Back" returned to the world charts with a new masterpiece "Bakerman", which came out in 1989. By the way, the author of the video clip is the legendary Danish film director Lars von Trier. It shows the musicians parachuting and playing their musical instruments while in flight. "Laid Back" is an active duo and continues to record and participate in various projects. For example, in 2001, the two musicians composed the musical score for the Danish film "Flyvende Farmor", for which they received the Robert (Danish Oscar) award. In the same year, they showed their new artistic side by holding an exhibition of paintings in Copenhagen. The duo often performed at various special concerts and festivals, the most prominent of which is the prestigious Roskilde Festival. In 2005, the band's ninth studio album "Happy Dreamer" was released. The single "Beautiful Day" became especially popular - perhaps the key to its success lay in the fact that the duo collaborated with the well-known DJ and producer "Trentemøller", who created a remix of the song. Laid Back started making increasingly artistic videos, freely using their imaginative graphics and visual design. In 2010, a new single "Cocaine Cool" was released, which became the first that the duo released in the recording studio "Brother Music". This was followed by the mini-album "Cosyland", and in 2012 - the instrumental album "Cosmic Vibes". Since the very beginning, the duo "Laid Back" has maintained the unique ability to create music in their own special style, while constantly adding something new. When Tim and John are asked how a particular song came to be, the answer is almost always, "We just improvised with no intention". This was also the case with the double album "Optimistic Music" (2013), moreover, new creative forces entered the group. In 2019, "Laid Back" received the prestigious Danish award "Pioneer of the Year" for its long-term contribution to the international music scene. This year was special for the group, as it was 40 years since the formation of the duo. The anniversary was celebrated with a new album "Healing Feeling", but last year the 21st studio record "Road To Fame" saw the light of day.
