The performance in Russian is based on the motifs of Mikhail Lermontov's poem "The Demon" and is dedicated to the poet's 210th birthday.
"...And paradise opened to love..." - is a mystical story about a fallen the love of an angel Demon for an ordinary woman. And at the same time a hymn to all creators. Among them is Lermontov himself and his Demon," says Rustem Galičs, the show's director and lead actor. -- The project is created in a genre once dreamed of by the Russian artist Mikhail Vrubel, who created many versions and sketches of the Demon's portrait. The performance combines the poetic word, dramaturgy, vocals, music, visual art and in the new version also the unique multimedia possibilities of "Digital Art House". more than 50 original performances based on the motifs of Lermontov's poem "The Demon", which were combined into a large-scale international art project. Performances were successfully performed in the USA, Germany, Italy, Australia, Estonia, Latvia and other countries of the world, and none of them has been similar to the others. Some versions have been with a small number of performers, others have been ambitious, with a symphony orchestra, organ, choir, ballet, folklore dance ensemble and several creative collectives at the same time. In Riga, the play has been staged five times in different venues and has always been a success among the audience.
"Mikhail Lermontov reworked his poem several times, there are eight versions of "Demon", says Rustem Galich. – In the first half of the 21st century, we want to follow the same creative path that was followed in the 19th century by the great Russian poet, whose 210th anniversary we celebrate this year, and then, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, by the brilliant artist Mikhail Vrubel. At the same time, we want to emphasize the themes of goodness, love, faith and light contained in Lermontov's immortal poem, including with the help of modern multimedia technologies".
Rustem Galich (New York) is an actor and director who has been lives and works in the USA. He is the founder of the Poetry and Music Theater of New York, under whose auspices more than 10 poetry and music programs and performances have been created. Many of them, such as "Nights of Egypt", "Ball of Poets", "Our acquaintance, Sergej Yesenin", "Gypsies", etc. c., are well known to the Latvian public.
The famous Latvian violinist Aleksejs Koļesnikovs, Inguna Grīnberga - pianist and organist, who has participated in all Rustem Galičs productions since 2011, and the choir "Accolada" led by Oksana Cherkasova, are taking part in the performance. took part in Galič's concert in honor of Pushkin's anniversary in June 2016 and absolutely captivated the audience with his performance.
